Almost perfect …

I read something on Twitter and it got me thinking. Shocking, I know but watcha gonna do? So, back to my thinking before it goes haywire.

Why do people want a perfect romance? The thing about perfect, well, it’s easily ruined. One mistake, one bad call, one fight and poof perfect is gone! And then for the rest of your relationship, you are going to run after that perfect. Perfect relationship is frustrating, tiring and most importantly, it is a myth. People perceive it to be perfect but it never really is. Why?

You can’t value something you have never lost. You will not learn to compromise if you have never had a fight. You will not respect if you don’t understand. And my friend, you cannot truly love if you don’t have it in you to accept someone with ALL their flaws. And guess what? Everybody is flawed!

You want the wait, the fight, the chase. You want arguments and yelling matches. You want sacrifices, and pain. You want to get hurt and bleed willingly. You want to love deeply without ever wanting anything in return because you don’t know any other way. I know you are wondering why would you want all this crap in your life? Well, you see, if you had to fight to be with the one you love you’ll be too afraid to lose them again. You won’t grow as a couple if you never fight and work out your issues. And, the pain, the hurt, it will bond not your hearts but your souls. You will let go of what you believe is yours because love is unconditional and selfless. The fun part? You will not do all this because you HAVE to, it will come to you so naturally you’ll be surprised. And when this crap phase is over, you’ll be left with something hauntingly beautiful. Love, romance, friendship they are words too conventional, too blah to describe it. You see those old couples in movies fighting and bickering all the time? Exactly. You get my point :-)

Your imperfections make you perfect. You will find your happiness with the person who has the right mix of imperfections. You want a beautiful love story. Real romance, something true. Trust me, you don’t want perfect.
